ABSTRACT
Speirs (b. 1906), Scottish literary critic, was educated at the University of Aberdeen and Emmanuel College, Cambridge. He is Reader in English Literature at the University of Exeter, and is the author of The Scots Literary Tradition (1940) and other books of criticism.
