ABSTRACT

The poems of this beautifully printed book have the qualities of structure, rhythm, and sincerity, but they are needlessly obscure. It is an esoteric volume, which evidently has no wish to appeal to more than a small circle of readers, but the author is obsessed by the thought of the greater semi-artistic public; he seems often to be trying to mystify it, and writes always with an eye on it. If he could forget this enmity, his poems would be sweeter and more effective. As they are, they have a mathematical charm.
