ABSTRACT

A smaller temple garden of the landscape type is Joju-in belonging to the abbot of Kiyomizu temple. It forms a delightful little picture, with a pond, islands, lanterns, and old trees. Others are found in the temples of Koho-an, Rengeiji, Ninnaji, Chishaku-in, Shoren-in, Myoho-in, Kodaiji, and others. But all of these are the small landscape garden which has been fitted into the limited space of a temple courtyard.
