IN coun ting strokes on e may, as a general ru le, foll ow th e light of na tu re, a lways remem bering that a mere tick a t th e end of a st roke (caused by-or represent ing--the flick -up of th e brush in leavin g the paper) is disregarded ; an actua l dot, however, separate ly formed , is separa tely counted. The follow ing cha racters or parts of characters, which mi ght reasonably be supposed to coun t as at least two, a re nevertheless regarded as conta ining but on e stroke each.
