Though these sacrifices are no longer performed, they are of interest as the model on which the people themselves have copied their simple home ceremonies.
The Great Sacrifices included the worship of Heaven, Earth, the Imperial Ancestors, the Gods of Land and Grain and (by special edict of the Empress Dowager Tz'u Hsi) Confucius.
