ABSTRACT
This chapter is a critical discussion aimed at unravelling various patterns of embodiment that govern children’s lives. More specifically, the focus is on patterns of embodied interaction and expressive movement. For a long time I have been fascinated about the beauty and vitality of children’s movement. I have keenly observed how they move in space in relation to each other and to adults, and what kinds of dynamics are present in their everyday actions and interactions within their social and physical environments. Recently, I have become increasingly concerned about the range of expressive dynamics that seems to become more limited for children. Instead of education building human capacities, it seems that with education comes the reduction of bodily expressivity.
