ABSTRACT
In this overview we present information on the housing market in Romania and in particular on the role social housing has played within it since the transition. An analysis of the policy stages of social housing support in Romania shows that it is only in the period of 1997 to 2007 that there was a tendency to increase social rental construction. After these years the stock declined considerably from the extensive privatization after 1990.
