ABSTRACT
Suppose there will be only one winning ticket in a fair lottery with a million tickets. If you have just one ticket, say number 1,092, it is reasonable to believe that it won’t win. But the same will be true of every other ticket, although you know that one of the tickets will win. Then, taken together, your set of beliefs will be inconsistent.
