The me-st important anniversaries for a man were the years 21, 31, and so on, when he entered a fresh decade. The odd numbers, pertaining to the Yang (II) or male principle, were especially appropriate to his sex, and in Canton province at least, the distaff side was differentiated by observing the 20th, 30th year, where even numbers prevail.
