ABSTRACT
Some select few of the flamboyant mystery man heroes who lurked behind concealing masks and costumes in movie serials were not adapted from the comic books where they would have been at home. Besides Columbia’s Black Commando in answer to Republic’s Spy Smasher, the Republic Pictures Corporation, home of action films, also created a number of superheroes especially for the screen.
