ABSTRACT

With a well-networked teacher as a mother, Mengmeng knew her educational options before she had even entered middle school. This gave her ample time to research her options and to carefully consider her decision about her post-middle school education. Most migrant students are not so lucky: many find out about their lack of high school opportunities in the city very late in the game, and are consequently forced into rushed, uninformed decisions.
