Research on Teaching and Learning Art History In recent years, research on the teaching and learning of history has focused on the knowledge base that is crucial for the understanding of the main concepts used in this discipline. The main areas of interest of this type of research have been issues such as the notions of time and change, the explanation of historical events, and the ways in which historical texts are comprehended (Wineburg, 1993; Voss and Carretero, 1994).
