ABSTRACT
The unity and force individuals to act more in accordance with their best economic interests. Folk-religion reflects the greater interest of tIle peasant in material gain as do also a number of folk-adages. Since the peasant was often denied opportunities for education his knowledge of values contained in the classics was obtained largely by indirect means, through the example of the gentry.
