ABSTRACT
Landscapes with trees are of many kinds. Omitting gardens, orchards, hedgerow trees and trees in fields, the remaining treed landscapes are of two main types. In one type grazing and browsing large mammals are part of the normal dynamics of landscape; in the other they are not.
