ABSTRACT

Kenneth Lay was an American business executive best known for his position as CEO of the infamous Enron Corporation until it declared bankruptcy and he resigned in 2002. Lay’s leadership and Enron’s practices were the focus of one of the largest corporate scandals in United States history. Th e charges included accounting fraud, bank fraud, securities fraud, and providing false and misleading statements to numerous stakeholders. In 2006 Lay was convicted on 10 counts of fraud and other charges and he died from a heart attack several weeks later.
