ABSTRACT

Most of Canning's private letters to Bagot at St Petersburg and the Hague are in George Canning and his Friends, by Captain Bagot (1900), vol. ii. Others unpublished are in the Bagot MSS. (v. pp.

256, 304, 507). A number of Canning's private letters to Granville at the Hague and at Paris are in A. G. Stapleton, George Canning and his Times (1859), and in E. J. Stapleton's Political Correspondence of Canning (1888). The former is carelessly edited and contains inaccuracies of dates at times. The latter, however, is very correct and has useful comments.
