Object on a field We noted before that every figure is potentially a field waiting to hold other figures. at observation follows from gestalt principles as a general trait of human perception: our senses move us toward resolution and completion. A charged form awaits an occupant, just as nature abhors a vacuum and silence beckons sound. Expectation should not be arbitrary, however, so here we take a critical view of what might happen during the design process and why.
