ABSTRACT
This and the next chapter are by way of being appendices to the main survey. At the request of my colleagues in the United States a number of questions were asked in that country concerning health and retirement insurance and benefits; a fair proportion of British pensioners referred to money matters. The information obtained from pensioners appears worthy of putting on record as a by-product of the main study which as we have seen was concerned mainly with immediate social relationships.
