ABSTRACT
INTRODUCTION LIVING in the shadow of one of Earth's most magnificent structures, one senses a mental attraction akin to the physical magnetism exercised by great over minute bodies. Irresistibly the eye is focussed on the imposing mass, and as it rests on the beauties of slope and ravine, forest and ice field, the mind must bear it company, dwelling on their meaning, and speculating on their secrets.
