ABSTRACT
SEVERAL subjects of this chapter have been so fully dealt with in the publications of Mr. B. Gutmann that I have little to add, and would omit it did I not feel that this book would stand incomplete without some reference to the occupations and industries of the people and customs connected therewith. I therefore gladly avail myself of Mr. Gutmann's permission to amplify this chapter from his material, the more so as his writings have not been translated into English.
