ABSTRACT

Most organisations are challenged by the necessity of dealing with the impact and consequences of the paradigm change in the business environment discussed in Part I. This generally amounts to recognising and facing up to the need for change and having the resolution to take decisions which break with the modus operandi of the past. Management have a tendency to regard preserving the status quo as an important part of their mission and in so doing may wittingly or unwittingly develop an unrealistic view of real-world conditions. This attitude will result in failure to take the right mix of business decisions and can produce a state of management confusion and myopia.
