ABSTRACT

The UK has a formal training scheme for those public health practitioners who wish to become specialists in public health and proceed to consultant status. Northern Ireland runs its own recruitment. For Scotland, England and Wales there is a single annual recruitment round for suitably qualified individuals, which includes the armed forces. The training scheme is open to applicants from medical and non-medical backgrounds.
