ABSTRACT

IN prior chapters we have reviewed the influence of social factors and traits on delinquency with particular reference to the pathology of the parents, the atmosphere of the homes in which the delinquents were reared, and the interpersonal family relations. Now we turn to some evidences of lack of parental concern for the boys as reflected in meager provisions for recreation in the home, indifference or in-hospitality toward the friends of the son, and a lack of family group recreations. Attention will be given also to the influence of inadequate supervision by the mother and faulty disciplinary practices by mother and father.
