ABSTRACT
The Arab-Islamic cultural venture As Islam spread, it encountered new circumstances imposed by the environment and differences in social formations, security requirements, position and production. The Islamic state sometimes succeeded and sometimes failed in its attempts to deal with or express these circumstances. Like any other divine mission or cultural venture, Islamic systems of values, depending on the manner in which they were applied or interpreted, had varying degrees of success in meeting the requirements of social unity.
