ABSTRACT
William Edward Burghart DuBois was born in Great Barrington, Massachusetts, and received his higher education at Fisk and Harvard Universities. His doctoral thesis for Harvard, The Suppression of the Slave Trade, was published as the first volume in the Harvard Historical Series.
