THEhorsesofWestBarbary,thoughsmall,arerenownedfor fleetnessandactivity;thebreed,however,hasbeenmuch neglected,exceptinAbda,andaboutMarocco,ataplacecalled AinToga;thesehorseshavestrongersinewsthanthoseofEurope,andafteralittletrainingarepeculiarlydocile.The stallionsonlyarerode,themaresbeingkeptforbreeding, exceptamongtheSbelluhs,whousethemforriding.Geldings areunknowninMohammedancountries;aMooselminwill neithercastrate,norselltheskinofthebeastoftheProphet.
