IN reply to the question put by the Select Committee as to the practicability of send-

ing these negroes back to their own country, one witness declared that it was impossible, but I differ entirely with him on that head-it is by no means impossible; and every slave so liberated and returned to his own country by us would strike a " heavier blow " to the slave-trade than ever yet has been dealt against it. I propose, presently, to show how this may be done.
