ABSTRACT

To foretell the future of the Amandebele is beyond my power, but if the history of the last ten years of their career is to be taken as a basis for our conclusions in this respect, they cannot but be favourable. During these years several important steps in the right direction have been gained in that land of darkness, among which must be classed, permission for the young men to marry-wear clothes-serve white people-trade with foreigners, and learn to read.
