ABSTRACT

THE temperature or climate of a country depends upon its distance from the equator. Local circumstances,-as its height above the level of the sea; whether an island or a portion of an extensive continent; the nature of its surface, "rhethcr consisting of flats or of mountainous land, -all these combine to operate materially upon the decrease or increase of heat, and to regulate the tenlperature of the atmosphere.
