ABSTRACT

We now turn to Process Mapping and Process Design, the critical threads that weave together all the tools and concepts presented and illustrated in this book. We present them here, near the beginning of the readers’ journey, because practice cannot really begin without them. Using any tool without having reflected on how it fits into the stream of activities it seeks to understand and change is an invitation to failure and disappointment. Mapping a real-life process, even tentatively and over the short term, provides grounds for selecting and scaling appropriate tools for use.
