ABSTRACT

This chapter surveys the theoretical stances and methodological strategies applied to five areas where PAR has created a lasting legacy: work life approached experimentally (after Lewin), psychosociology (using the insights of psychoanalysis), Freirian education, community development in the international arena and the emerging technologies of public engagement. These contributions represent significant efforts to integrate the three fundamental components of participation, action and research. They also point to three key challenges within PAR.
