ABSTRACT
In April 2010, a British Petroleum (BP) oil rig experienced a massive explosion that killed 11 workers. After the rig caught fire and sank, oil from the BP well started spilling into the Gulf of Mexico. Initial estimates suggest that around 10,000 to 15,000 barrels of oil were spewing into the sea.
