ABSTRACT

This chapter describes the need to curb urban sprawl, reduce dependency on private vehicles, and lower emission levels are among the facts that make planners rethink network design. One can, however, wonder whether strategies that are applied to transportation design in large urban centers are applicable to small or mid-sized towns like Kfar Sava. Small towns have unique characteristics worth noting along with recent trends in transportation planning. The Albertas oil-based prosperity, the increased cost of housing in the nearby provincial capital of Edmonton, and the quality of life offered were the main causes that drew people to Stony Plain. It also describes to chart Stony Plains future urban development along sustainable principles, we considered strategies that strengthen its economic performance, environmental conditions, social profile, and cultural attributes. On the foundation of the existing land uses we reformulated the town's master plan.
