ABSTRACT

This chapter is a chronicle of our shared design process as ensued during a semester-long iPad app-based learning design and development course at the University of Minnesota. The goal of the narrative is to overview our design process, as students, and to provide a foundational understanding of how location-based development was carried through our collaborative learning. Topics range from the design process in a collaborative learning environment to balancing standard design patterns of the iOS platform with patterns conceptualized through our visioning and design process. Included in this student design perspective is our theoretical foundation and motivation for development, a review of our collaborative design process, techniques employed toward the achievement of design, and the development of key features and interfaces that embody the motivation and praxis of our work.
