ABSTRACT

In the history (and future) of banks as multinationals, US multinational banking plays a central role. 'US banks' have been among the most active banks in developing multinational networks, and 'non-US banks' have generally viewed the US as one of the most important targets for their foreign expansion. This chapter traces the history of US multinational banking from 1914.
