ABSTRACT
Of the three main elements of narrative—story, text, and narration—text may be the most commonsensical term, conceptually, as captured in this definition: “The wording of anything written or printed; the structure formed by the words in their order; the very words, phrases, and sentences as written” (Oxford English Dictionary Online Edition). While this is a good departure point for understanding the nature of text, it is certainly not enough.
