ABSTRACT

From the survey undertaken in this Part, it is apparent that no consistent. pattern is revealed along which domestic banking regulation may be seen to be moving. Any tendency that may have occurred within the past decade in Europe to move towards indirect controls has been washed away in the wake of the substantial capital movements across borders from which all of Europe appears to have suffered to some extent. While the retreat from indirect controls has been towards more direct controls, the individual regulatory frameworks of the various countries have provided a diversity of even these controls.
