ABSTRACT

Introduction Reflection involves describing, analysing and evaluating our thoughts, assumptions, beliefs, theories and actions (Fade 2012). Since the aim of placement is to promote ‘Clinical reasoning and analytical and evaluation abilities in students’ (McClure 2012), reflection is central to development of reflective practice. It is assumed that reflection is a process that is engaged in as part of learning; however, reflection is a skill which needs to be developed and enhanced.
