ABSTRACT
Social status and stratification are related at once to the political order and to the respect which individuals grant each other in private life. They become especially meaningful conceptions in a society when there is a divergence between privately held standards and those which prevail politically. It is within this context that Professor Brotz examines social status and stratification, and thus brings interactionist concepts into the analysis of social organization.
