ABSTRACT

Efforts to increase the usability of range can also be made by improvements in the uniformity of grazing use, which can be achieved by properly located fences and proper spacing of wells. Range management should also pay attention to other land uses and ensure their proper correlation with grazing. With the growth of human population rangelands become less isolated and social aspects of multiple uses of land must often be considered. Last but not least, proper care must be taken of livestock, which includes breeding procedures, nutrition, animal health, etcY

But above all, if the task of range management is to improve the already overgrazed range, the disturbing processes must be stopped and livestock control, often involving destocking, becomes a basic condition for success. Otherwise attempts to arrest such phenomena as soil erosion and desertification will be simply futile.
