ABSTRACT

We now know much more about expatriate adjustment than we did a quarter of a century ago (Bhaskar-Shrinivas, Harrison, Shaffer, & Luk, 2005; Hechanova, Beehr, & Christiansen, 2003; Takeuchi, 2010). However, as we have argued throughout this book, the field has now reached a point where the lack of relevant theory has become a limiting factor (Takeuchi, Shay, & Li, 2008; Lazarova & Thomas, 2012). Hence, in this book, we have presented a model that we hope moves the field towards a better theory of expatriate adjustment.
