ABSTRACT
From his arrival in Paris at the end of 1830 to his death sixteen years later List lived in Germany and France, except for a brief visit to the United States to collect his family. He never made his home in Wiirttemberg again but lived in Altona, Leipzig, Paris and Augsburg. He never held a salaried post and had to rely upon his earnings as a writer and journalist.
