ABSTRACT

Can you imagine the patriotic Union Jack in yellow, white and green? An absurd image indeed. But it does raise the issue of colour/image coordination. Thus, the purpose of this activity is to explore the relationship between the use of colour and imagery - particularly with regard to political icons and flags - and also to stimulate discussion about historical symbols and their significance. What often follows is a deeper understanding of not just the impact of colour in historical symbols, but the meaning of the actual symbols themselves.
