ABSTRACT

Hold up a coat with all the seams torn and try it on. This is my favourite coat. If the children laugh, ask what the problem is. If they do not, ‘find’ the tears yourself. Oh dear, what am I going to do with this? Who would be able to help with mending something like this? What skills would you need? What would they do exactly?

I A hook to interest them

I want to do a story about a group of people who work very hard making clothes for people. I wonder if you d help me with it. We could do it together. You will be the clothes makers in the story. What would you be doing if I walked into your workshop now? Who will you work with?

2 Negotiating the doing of drama

This is the workshop. Is that all right? What will you be making? What do you have to do to do that? Where will your part of the workshop be? Show me how you work at making something you have designed.

3 Defining the space or occupational mime optional task

What designs do you have for suits and clothes and shoes? Could you draw those for your customers? Show how you pretend to draw out the designs for a particular client. What size is your paper? What are you using to draw it?
