ABSTRACT
So far in our case studies we have taken quite familiar ideology perspectives on discourse, explaining texts and their interpretations as sexist, capitalist and imperialist. Of course ideology is not monolithic (Williams 1977), and though these ideologies are dominant they coexist with a strong emergent ideology of feminism, and somewhat weakened oppositional ideologies of socialism and internationalism.
