ABSTRACT

It's easy to think that simultaneous is the only mode of interpreting that requires us to do several things at the same time. The very name ‘simultaneous’ is a big clue. But you would be wrong to think that. Consecutive interpreting involves just as much ‘simultaneity’, it's just that the interpreter will not be speaking and listening at the same time, as in simultaneous, but rather writing their notes and listening at the same time.
