ABSTRACT
In 1905 an unknown clerk in the Swiss patent offi ce published a paper in which he advocated abandoning the idea of absolute time. Th is fundamental postulate of the theory of relativity suggested that the laws of science should be the same for all observers, regardless of speed. Th e clerk’s name was Albert Einstein.
