ABSTRACT

By their behavior a parent and a child may indicate a need for help. Some parents may be able to take the initiative in seeking a better way of living together by coming to a specific source of help, such as a child guidance clinic. This move, however, does not of necessity mean that either child or parent can use the help that is available. Sometimes neither one is really ready to do anything about the mutual difficulties. This chapter, therefore, will be devoted to a discussion of some of the influences that can interfere with therapy.
