ABSTRACT
I have called this book The Neurotic Personality because I believe that the neurotic individual cannot be understood and cannot be helped unless his personality is appreciated. It may be remembered that the definition adopted here is that personality is an emergent, arising from all the bodily and mental structures and functions and all their relationships with the environment. It follows therefore, that if the physician is to understand and help the neurotic he must take a fairly comprehensive view of his patient.
