ABSTRACT

The hospitality industry constitutes one of the most energy-and resource-intensive branches of the tourist industry. Energy efficiency in facilities designed for hospitality is frequently low and the resulting environmental impacts are typically greater than those caused by other types of buildings of a similar size. The negative effects on the environment during the construction phase are caused by the excessive consumption of non-renewable resources, e.g. water, electricity and fuel, as well as by emissions into the air, groundwater and soil.
